The music genre Zouk originated in the French-speaking Caribbean and developed further over the time. At Danca Alegria and Zouk Berlin we dance Brazilian Zouk to a very wide range of music, which can be traditional Zouk music, remixed Pop and R’n’B songs, Alternative, Kizomba and even Dubstep. Usually, Zouk songs have around 70-85 beats per minute, a four-four timea and a characteristic rhythm. Due to the huge variety of movements and expressions in Brazilian Zouk there is no fixed speed range but rather a big spectrum of paces and ways of expression you can dance.
Here is a small summary of different Zouk music, which of course by far is not complete.
